September

September is National Preparedness Month!!!

What a great month to start our new Bee Prepared program and this website! You have probably received your "Bee Prepared" packet. If not, be sure to get one from me on Sunday. So your goals this month are:

Develop a family plan

Secure important paper & family plan in a safe place (i.e. fire safety box)

Decide a monthly cash goal & store in a safe place

Store 2 gallons of water per week (8 gallons this month)

Store pasta based on family need

I will post relevent articles, sales, and specials related to this month's goals so check back often. Good luck and please contact me if you have any questions.
Family Emergency Plan: Ready.gov has some great worksheets you can print and fill out. Basically, a family plan should include names, birth dates, social security numbers, and important medical information for each family member. It should also include work and school addresses and evacuation locations and phone numbers of doctors, pharmacists, veterinarians, and insurance companies/agents. All family members should know where to go and who to contact in case of an emergency. Ready.gov also has cards that you can print out, fill out, laminate, and put in your children's backpacks. You can also attach a family picture before laminating in case a child gets separated from the rest of the family (the picture will also serve as a source of comfort to the child).
Important Documents: The following documents should be stored in a fire-proof safe: Social Security cards, passports, bank account numbers and information, passwords for online banking, log on and password for computer, birth certificates, marriage license, will/trust information, insurance policies, VIN number of vehicles, titles (house, car, etc.), copy of driver's license, copies of credit cards and information, and special photographs.
These forms and more will be provided on Craft Day when we assemble our Emergency Preparedness Binders, but you can get started now by getting all of this information together and written out.
Remember: If you fulfill all of the goals this month, a special surprise may await you! Good luck!
